Reducing the human body down to its origins, essence, and self-
Qu’avant (fr. = as before) is inspired by the relationship of Man and Machine.
Blood circulation, muscle structure, and skeletal frame determine my designs. Well-functioning machines counteract the fallibility and imperfection in humans, reflected by the strongly contrasted materials and surfaces.
Many textiles are handcrafted; handwoven, knitted, embroidered, dyed, printed. Used techniques that challenge the bounds of the craft. A reduced color palette re-enforces the concept: red (Man); grey/silver (Machine).
Each piece is afforded a high degree of attention to detail, increasing its personal value and underscoring its priceless character.
