Beauty has to be imperfect, fragmentary, progressive and unpicturesque.
Carrying this to the extreme I constructed a corpus that strongly diverged from the norm. Boxy torso, slant shoulders, extended neck and a hunch. As exceptional bodies require appropriate treatment I chose materials that are strong enough to generate the balance between the object and the subject.
Boar skin (bleached and coloured), natural felt, and latex indicate the equal strength of the human being and wild animal. Silk, chiffon, leather and brass add wearability.
In progress the fabrication of the garment has been a power play where each material permanently changed the hierarchy. The upper part can be a protective cover as well as a cage that doesn’t allow the corpus to move.
A cliff and a permanent string between object and subject, aesthetic and aversion finally fuse and give rise to the understanding of your inner and outer self.
